2019 Wrap Up!
WOW, how is it that another year has come and gone? We are humbled by all the support and new opportunities 2019 has brought NSP, and honored to have captured so many of your special moments. Our team has grown in ways that we couldn't have imagined, and we've gotten to share so many amazing milestones with you all! Here is a little recap of what we've been up to over the past year :)
Name change / re-brand – one of the most exciting changes in 2019 was the name of our studio! “Natalie Sinisgalli Photography” had been operating for almost 12 years, with Natalie being the sole / main photographer for most of those years. In 2018, Anna started first-shooting weddings here under the brand, and this year came on full-time as an associate photographer! With our team's changing dynamic, it was time for a new name on the door. “NSP Studio” was the most obvious fit, as we had been using the nickname for years. Now, our clients can have the pleasure of booking their wedding with either Natalie or Anna as their lead photographer, and we are constantly impressed by the beautiful work Anna produces and the care that she gives our clients!
In addition to Anna now being full time at NSP, our team has been expanding in other ways! Alyssa, our production manager who makes all of your images and album designs SO gorgeous and perfect, with her husband Jim welcomed two beautiful baby girls earlier this year!!! They are the most amazing parents and Alyssa hasn't skipped a beat, continuing to be such an integral part of our team and ensuring our clients are SUPER happy with how their images come out. All while mom-ing TWINS!
And we did mean to saw “a few” additions to the family........ if you've been in to the studio recently you've probably heard the news, but NATALIE IS EXPECTING!! Her and her husband Pepsy will be welcoming their baby boy in February of 2020 and we are all over the moon!!!
Headshots for Resiliency – YWCA – In the spring of 2019, we hosted our fourth bi-annual headshot fundraiser with the YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County and photographed almost 60 professionals, creatives and entrepreneurs here in Rochester. We raised $1675 for the YWCA and were able to help women and families in our area gain access to housing, family and racial equity services. We are so proud of everything the YWCA team is doing to empower women in our community!
Headshots for Leadership – JLR – Our second headshot week in 2019 was with the Junior League of Rochester and we reached our goal again of 50 participants, raising $1250 for the JLR. We also collected diapers and diapering supplies for their Diaper Bank, which is the only operating bank in our county and surrounding area. The work they do to improve our community and develop the potential of women in Rochester is astounding. We were honored to work with them in August, and look forward to building our relationships with both of these organizations for years to come.
Styled shoots – We always jump at the opportunity to do anything creative, and in 2019 we got to do a couple major styled shoots with some ridiculously talented people in our community. In April we collaborated with Rochester Indie Weddings, Lovely Bride (dresses), Gallery Salon (hair and makeup), Revival Vintage Rentals (furniture) and Stacy K Floral (flowers) for a super colorful showcase shoot. We utilized some of the beautiful mural work around Rochester as backdrops – some of the artists seen below are Sarah C. Rutherford / Her Voice Carries, Justin Suarez / Mr. Prvrt and can be found on Wall Therapy.
The second styled shoot we did was with Panache Finer Vintage and Consignment for Rochester Fashion Week X catalogue. Panache supplied all the gorgeous vintage clothing with Stitch + Bloom's styling services (see below about Molly's new side biz!), Erin Kewin and Jerica Santana from Haven Salon worked on hair and makeup (respectively), and the vintage cars were brought in by some trusty friends :) We had so much fun going ALL over the city between these two shoots, and always love showing what Rochester's amazing vendors and small businesses can do.
Natalie & Molly launched new businesses – If you haven't already heard, Natalie and Molly both started new side hustles! Natalie recently announced the launch of her business, Embolden, as she continues to inspire and support female business owners, leaders and professionals. She is offering 1:1 business coaching, facilitating workshops AND launching her podcast very soon (stay tuned!). At the start of 2019, Molly officially established her styling and wardrobe consulting business, Stitch + Bloom. She has always felt passionate about fashion and beauty, and working for NSP the past three years has inspired her even more to make women feel their very best, from the inside out. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram @emboldenbiz and @stitchandbloomstyle!
Bridal Ball - Along with Rochester Indie Weddings and Black Label Events and Design, we hosted our first ever Bridal Ball Fundraiser! It was a fabulous night with music from Marquee Events, a wedding gown try-on station from Lovely Bride Rochester, hors d’oeuvres and bubbly from the Jack Rabbit Club (also the venue!) and so much more. We danced the night away in honor of Brides for a Cause, an organization that collects and resells wedding dresses to raise funds for charity. Some of the causes and organizations they support include Dress for Success, Every Mother Counts, Fighting Pretty, Human Solutions and many more.
Rochester Hall of Fame Induction – In September, NSP had the exciting opportunity to photograph the National Women's Hall of Fame Induction at Del Lago Resort & Casino. The induction was held in Seneca Falls in celebration of the 100th year anniversary of Women's Right to Vote in NY, right where the Women's Rights movement all started. It was a humbling experience and a day full of celebrating the achievements of so many talented and strong women. The 2019 inductees included Gloria Allred, Angela Davis, Sarah Deer, Jane Fonda, Nicole Malachowski, Rose O'Neill, Lousie Slaughter, Sonia Sotomayor, Laurie Spiegel and Flossie Wong-Staal. Honor of a lifetime.
FLX Conference – We were lucky enough to be asked to photograph ANOTHER amazing event that celebrated women in 2019, the first annual FLX Women's Leadership Conference – Women Rising: Resilience, Resistance & Radical Connection. The day consisted of ridiculously inspiring speakers including keynote Ritu Bhasin, author and president of an international diversity & inclusion consulting firm, Danielle Ponder, lawyer, musician and speaker, and more. We got to meet so many motivated women in our community, and can't wait for the next one. Big thanks to Kristen Fragnoli for making us a part of the day!
George Eastman Award – Julia Roberts – It's not every day you get asked to photograph Julia Roberts... we all almost passed out when the Eastman Museum reached out with the 2019 recipient of the Eastman Award and asked NSP to photograph it! It was a whirlwind of a day, and Julia is just as beautiful in person as she is on the big screen (and that iconic laugh is exactly as you would imagine it).
18 Weddings – In 2019, NSP photographed 18 weddings between Natalie and Anna both leading their own crews. It was such a wonderful season and we got to work with couples from all over the states and beyond! Its always amazing to see how love brings people back to Rochester, and it never seems to get old! Each wedding is so unique, as well as each couples' story. It was an honor to be a part of all of our clients' celebrations and its always such a joy to see how their lives will continue to transform and grow :) 2020 is shaping up to be even busier!
Classes / Workshops here at the studio – In 2019 we continued to host classes here at the studio, including more DSLR Boot Camp classes, book club meet ups, branding workshops and speaker series. We have loved being able to share our studio as a safe haven for women and bring people together. One of the main reasons Natalie purchased 11 Arnold Park was to create a space where people feel comfortable and cared for, while empowering and connecting women.
Thank you SO MUCH for following along on our journey and allowing us to do what we do here at the studio! We can't wait to see where 2020 takes us and look forward to creating more memories together and with all of you! XOXO
