Man Crush Monday | Holly & Richard McDonough

Holly’s everyday #ManCrush is her husband, Richard :)

Q: Tell us the story of how you met...

A: Richard and I met when we were 14 years old. We were lab partners in our freshman Earth Science class. We became friends almost immediately, and started dating when we were 16. We've now been together for over seven years - we just got married last September 2019!

Q: What was the first date like?

A: Because we were in high school when we started dating, the first date was actually just hanging out at his parents' house. Before we were a couple, he was tutoring me in math… So I was actually only over there for that at first. It turned into a date when he kissed me though!

Q: What makes him crush worthy?

A: Not only is he handsome, but he is funny! He can always lighten the mood and make people laugh. Everyone loves being around him.

Q: When did you know you wanted to spend the rest of your life with this person?

A: I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Richard pretty much immediately after we started dating. We used to write letters to each other in high school and in them we would talk about how we wanted to get married and have kids together one day. I still have them! It's fun to go back and read them now and see these dreams have actually come true.

Q: What are you looking forward to most in your future together?

A: I'm looking forward to having kids one day. This would probably make Richard laugh, because I say I don't want to start a family for quite awhile so that we have time to travel and have fun just the two of us. Even so, I do really look forward to sharing this together in the future.

Q: Tell us about the proposal!

A: Our proposal story is kind of funny. I had been talking about getting engaged for quite a while, and I was regularly sending Richard pictures of engagement rings I thought I'd like. I didn't think he'd even started looking, so I suggested one day after lunch that we head over to the Kay Jewelers nearby just to take a look and get ideas. Well, turns out he had the ring with him that whole time. It was pouring rain in the parking lot and just as we were about to get into the car, he got down on one knee and proposed! I was definitely surprised.

Q: Tell us about your wedding day.

A: Our wedding day was amazing! People always say that something will go wrong, but I really don't think anything major did. I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life than on my wedding day, and it was so special to share those moments with our family and friends. We rented our wedding venue for the whole weekend, so it was a lot of fun to be able to stay there overnight and really soak everything in. I will always  cherish that day; I just wish I could go back and relive it!
